Motivation Centres for Tribal Children:

Action Worldwide helping the tribal children in India to become part of mainstream schooling system via motivational centres/transitional schools.

Region: Dindigul district, Tamilnadu, India.

Partner: The NGO ‘Sawed Trust’

Project Description:

Irulas are tribes who are traditional snake and rat catchers. They are virtually cut off from the mainstream of the society. They are ignorant about the happenings in the external world. Illiteracy is the main reason for all of these problems. Action Worldwide, is in the process of developing 120 tribal children to get educated so that in future they do not face problems that had been faced by the earlier generations.

Vocational training for Underprivileged Women:

Action Worldwide empowering the underprivileged Indian women in five villages through tailoring training, type writing and small food processing micro-business programmes.

Region: Theni district, Tamilnadu, India.

Partner: The NGO ‘Help Trust’

Project Description:

Most of the Indian rural women are agricultural labours with just £1 daily income. Due to poor land productivity, their work is for only 90 days a year which makes their lives miserable. To help them generate their own income, Action Worldwide initiated this project so that eventually all women will be self-sustained. This project provides technical skills, basic enterprise-management training and a start-up fund for 300 poor Indian women.
